Northern Solistia is a frozen realm of snow and ice.
Its capital is Stormhail, a mountainous city that houses the Sacred Guard. Established roughly 380 years ago, the Sacred Guard was the brainchild of Archbishop Kinchler. After the cold snap that assailed the eastern continent in the previous century, the order established its headquarters here. To this day, this holy organization's mission remains unchanged: to uphold law and order across the continent.
Travel towards the coast, and you will find the fishing town of Cape Cold. Great hauls of salmon, trout, mackerel, squid, and more are brought in almost daily. In addition, many who dwell here work in agriculture or textiles, and lately, a hardy species of cold-resistant barley has caused quite a stir.

Trivia[]
- The Winterlands is the equivalent of the Frostlands from the original Octopath Traveler.
- The Winterlands is the only region in Solistia that doesn't feature the final chapter for any character.
- When composing the music for the Winterlands, Yasunori Nishiki wanted to express not just the chill of the snow and cruelty of the conditions, but also the sense of mission that drives Osvald and the grimness of his journey. If the Frostlands music evoked snow as viewed from inside a cabin, enjoying a bowl of hot stew by a crackling fire, the Winterlands's theme expressed the symmetrically harsh flipside of that—the kind of bitter cold that saps body heat and freezes even human emotion solid.[1]
- The Winterlands and the Brightlands have four towns each, whereas all six other regions have three.
