Vidania is a location in Octopath Traveler II, revealed only during the Journey for the Dawn. Known as the "isle of illusions," and "world's end," it serves as the prison of Vide, the game's final boss.
History[]
According to a legend passed down by the Order of the Sacred Flame, Vidania is the battleground in which the eight gods fought Vide. After Aelfric defeated the wicked god using his comrades' power, the Sacred Flames sealed Vide away, sinking Vidania to the ocean floor.
Story[]
Millenia later, the four Flames are snuffed out by key members of the Moonshade Order. When the Flames' seal breaks, Vidania resurfaces, and Oboro, one of the key members of the Moonshade Order, heads there to perform the final ritual to bring Vide back. There Oboro is confronted by the eight main travelers, who sail to the island after reigniting the four flames. After asking why the travelers continue to pursue the dawn, Oboro sacrifices himself by falling backward into Vide's dark fire, resurrecting the wicked god.
Vide battles the eight travelers in a climactic battle, striving to defeat them and obliterate the world with the Shadow. The travelers prevail, and Vide vanishes, ending the eternal night over Solistia. Together, the eight travelers watch the sun dawn over Vidania.

Trivia[]
- After defeating Vide, Vidania becomes inaccessible for the rest of the game.
- The summit of the island is called Castle Vidania.
- After the cutscene in which the travelers gaze on Vidania, the game's music is set to "Dark Night." However, the theme will stop playing if the player engages in battle, and the music will revert back to silence if the player leaves the Sundering Sea.
- Vidania's emblem resembles Vide's eyelike form.
- Yasunori Nishiki composed "Invitation to Darkness" as a dungeon track filled with climactic energy that plays just before the secret boss, occupying a similar position to “The Gate of Finis” in the original Octopath Traveler. When Nishiki heard that this was the track for the last dungeon and would have a “Gate of Finis”-ish position, he thought, “I have to bring my A game to this one!” The overall sound and structure of the piece hew fairly closely to the precedent set by “The Gate of Finis,” with a synth-heavy rhythm track and a melody played on piano with deep reverb, imparting a certain consistency to the imagery of the “last dungeon” in the OCTOPATH TRAVELER series. Because the previous songs on the soundtrack are largely made up of acoustic elements, the synthesized kicks and breakbeat-style rhythms of "Invitation to Darkness" also help convey to the player that this space is not like the others. This, combined with the dramatic musical development, creates a piece of music worthy of its place as the climatic dungeon track.[1]
- After composing "Invitation to Darkness," Nishiki found out that Vidiania was actually super-short. As such, the track wouldn’t even be heard for very long, which was a little depressing for him. Nevertheless, he did his best to make "Invitation to Darkness" a good piece of music, and he hopes that players will give it a good listen in honor of that effort.[2]
