"You are most welcome to Victors Hollow, the jewel of the Woodlands. Most know this place for our lauded arena. Please be sure to watch a match while you're here." —Townsperson
Victors Hollow is a town in Octopath Traveler. It is a town that lies in the Woodlands, close to the shores of the Verdant Deep. Its arena is famous and draws both crowds and contestants from throughout all Orsterra. It is the setting for Olberic's Chapter 2 and Tressa's Chapter 3.
Description[]
Victors Hollow is an urban arena town that serves as a center of both prize fighting and commerce, cultivating a civilized yet rough-spirited medieval atmosphere. The city stands on a hill overlooking the forest, surrounded by fog and trees on all sides, with the ocean visible to the west. Victors Hollow sports an impressive colosseum-based arena, massive crowds, and a hidden garden.
The price to restore reputation in Victors Hollow is 10,000 leaves.
Victors Hollow is the only middle-ring town to have its own unique music.
Cecily mentions in Olberic's Chapter 2 that, during the annual tournament, "local authorities turn a blind eye to public dueling. It's still against the law, mind you, but no one gets in trouble for it." Challenging the townsperson at the city entrance will also yield the dialogue, "We may be famous for our arena tournaments, but fighting in the streets is not allowed."
The Barker who serves as the announcer for the arena battles in Olberic's Chapter 2 also appears in Grandport Bazaar during Tressa's Chapter 4 at the Merchants' Fair. His biography confirms this: "When the Fair is not being held, he works in Victors Hollow."
The Flower-loving Widow in Victors Hollow used to work as a dancer in the Sunlands, but she eloped with her husband to enjoy a quiet life tending their flower garden.
Primrose's reputation has evidently reached Victors Hollow ahead of her, as Alluring the townsperson before the Path to the Forbidden Grotto will yield the dialogue, "I believe I've heard of you! Are you by any chance from Sunshade?"
The chapel in Victors Hollow doubles as an orphanage. Unbeknownst to its matron, it runs on the donations of Marta's Gang, a group of thieves from Lower Bolderfall.
This chapel is also the only chapel in the game to contain a chest.
According to the biography of one of her charges, the Orphanage Matronage has backhanded a number of city brutes who tried to cross her, putting them flat on their backs.
The Resilient Gladiator and Orphanage Matron are dueled to "Battle I," rather than the city's typical "Battle II."
The red griffin banners that appear in the background of battles in Victors Hollow are identical to Atlasdam's, rather than Victors Hollow's own red-and-blue banners. This mismatch may be an oversight or a remnant of earlier design.
According to Provoke dialogue from the Barker in Victors Hollow: Arena Gate, beasts are sometimes used in the arena, and the Arena Attendant in Victors Hollow: The Arena reveals that beasts are kept in cages.
Although it contains a chapel, Victors Hollow does not appear to be a city of faith, as the townsperson by the entrance will say when Guided, "I rarely see one of the Order here," and a spectator by the arena gate remarks, "Never expected to find a sister here." Another spectator by the arena gates exclaims, "You wish to preach of justice in a town like this? How impressive your spirit!"
"You are most welcome to Victors Hollow, the jewel of the Woodlands. Most know this place for our lauded arena. Please be sure to watch a match while you're here." —Young Man-about-town
The town is separated into two districts, the Old Quarter and Victors Hollow proper. The latter district is less urbanized and lies lower than the heights of the more visited parts of the town.
In 1616, the Delvecchio gang is up and coming. During the events of Bestower of Wealth, their dream of dominating the town was snuffed out by the New Mafia, by Levina in particular. The Delvecchio gang then answers to Bargello, effectively making Victors Hollow his turf.
You are most welcome to Victors Hollow, the jewel of the Woodlands. Most know this place for our lauded arena. Please be sure to watch a match while you're here.

A shrewd syndicate member at the head of an up-and-coming family. With the backing of Leopaldi, he forcefully took over small mafia families one by one and claimed the old town of Victors Hollow as his own. He believed that power was everything until discovering a certain unbridled pleasure...
"Victors Hollow" is the only two-word town in the game, as every other compound is blended into a single world. Its name may refer to the city as being the "hollow of victors" - that is, a hole-like place in the woods where the victors of arena battles gather - or it may play off the concept of a "hollow victory": a victory that is meaningless.
General Trivia[]
According to Cyrus, Victors Hollow began as a penal circus where prisoners were forced to fight to the death. However, as time passed, prisoner duels were forbidden, and voluntary challenges of strength become popular.
Victors Hollow was the hometown of the infamous pirate Baltazar.
When Yasunori Nishiki heard that Victors Hollow was characterized by a coliseum in the forest, he imagined a powerful presence, which he expressed through percussion and rough steel guitar. Because he wanted to bring out the coliseum elements, he took the theme in a different direction from other Woodlands music.[1]
