Veronica is a character in Octopath Traveler II. She is the bodyguard of Dolcinaea Luciel and the boss of Agnea’s chapter 4.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Veronica is tall with a muscular build and long black hair tied into a ponytail. She has a white shirt and black pants with straps that wrap around her shoulders.
Personality[]
Veronica is straightforward and businesslike, with little need for trivialities. As Dolcinaea's bodyguard, she is devoted to her mistress and follows Dolcinaea unconditionally. Born with physical prowess, Veronica hones her martial skills to the exclusion of all else, which has led her to struggle in the past when she was required to act more ladylike. Now that Dolcinaea has encouraged her to be herself, Veronica feels great gratitude toward her employer.
History[]
Veronica once worked as a guard for another figure of import, but she was eventually dismissed in favor of a man. Dolcinaea understood her frustration and encouraged her to be herself, inviting Veronica into her own employ.
Story[]
During Agnea's Chapter 2, Veronica stood with Dolcinaea when the latter confronted La'mani after his altercation with another traveling dancer. Later, after questioning her employer on her handling of the situation, she then told her that all was "proceeding according to plan."
Later, Veronica arrived in Sai: East District and confronted the owners of the orphanage, demanding that they leave immediately before being confronted by Laila, who told her to leave them alone. Not wanting to cause a stir, she left, but not before telling them that they were warned. Later that night, Veronica returned with a group of hired hands and began to force the townspeople from their homes. As they did so, she went up to Dragonridge with Dolcinaea to watch them from a safe distance. Shortly after, they were confronted by Agnea, the same dancer from before, who asked why they would do this. After laying out her plans, Dolcinaea told Agnea to leave, but the latter refused, prompting Dolcinaea to send Veronica to deal with her. Despite putting up a tough fight, Veronica was defeated by the young dancer. After the altercation, the two left the area, but not before Dolcinaea gave Agnea an invite to the Grand Gala where they would settle things and destroying Cuani's statue.
At the Stage of the Moon and Sun, while Dolcinaea was preparing for her performance, Veronica waited in the audience for Agnea to show, but found her in confrontation with La'mani again. Before he could accost her, Veronica rushed in and knocked him out. After telling her to pay him no mind, she sent her to the stage, where Dolcinaea was waiting for her.
After Agnea defeated Dolcinaea in their battle, she left the theater with her employer, but not before thanking Agnea for seeing Dolcinaea at peace for the first time.
Veronica's Next Chapter[]
After the events at Merry Hills, Veronica and Dolcinaea returned to New Delsta where the former was undergoing a workout regiment one day whilst thinking about what to give Dolcinaea for a gift as an anniversary on the day they first met. After receiving information from an outside source close to Dolcinaea, she went to the theater to give her gift: a dumbbell, which delighted Dolcinaea. After briefly reminiscing on their past, they proceeded to get ready for the next show, although to Veronica's dismay, Dolcinaea intended to use the dumbbell for a musical purpose rather than its true one.
Veronica will start with 1 action per turn. Whenever she uses Switch Gears, she will increase her maximum shields and gain an additional action per turn up to a maximum of ###.

Strategy[]
Veronica's biggest threat is her Switch Gears ability, which increase her maximum shields and gain one additional action per turn. The ability is permanent and it cannot be removed on break, meaning if not be defeated soon, she can have 4+ action per turn. It's recommended to have party member that have skill to manipulate turn order like slowing her down or making party member to have first action, then break her before her action. Have Agnea constantly cast Windy Refrain when her shield is still up so that all party member get guarantee first act on the next turn. It's also important to have at least one heavy-hitter party member to deal huge damage so that she will defeated as soon as possible before she overwhelm the party with her Switch Gear. An Elemental-Damage hitter like Scholar is preferable because she can cast Featherweight which increase her Evasion.
