(I don't think this is where I should be going at the moment...) The following section contains potential story spoilers! |
At some point before Castti arrived in Canalbrine, Veron and Doron contracted an unknown infection and forced their way into the cave containing Canalbrine's water source. Their poison contaminated the water, rendering many of the townspeople ill when they consumed it. When Castti went to investigate the source of the poison herself, they engaged her in battle, with one of the pair cannibalizing the other in order to gain strength. Despite their savagery, these beasts were defeated and killed, and Castti cleansed the water using purebalm leaf.
Battle[]
Veron and Doron will attack together. Veron specializes in
Poison while Doron specializes in lowering
Physical Attack.
Once one of the two are either defeated or falls under 25% of its maximum health, the other will eat the weakened creature, partially healing itself while gaining additional abilities, buffs, and the ability to enter boost mode. This will also trigger a speech from Castti.
Once the remaining creature consumes the other, Castti's latent power, Every Drop Counts, and latent power gauge become unlocked and immediately usable.

Etymology[]
"Veron" is a name of Latin origin, meaning "true image." "Doron" is a name of Hebrew origin, meaning "gift." It is unclear whether these names refer to Veron and Doron as individuals, which would imply that they have some level of sentience, or whether they refer to the species of each.
Trivia[]
- Veron and Doron are the second pair of double-bosses fought during the Octopath Traveler series in a Chapter 1 story, the first being Mikk and Makk in Tressa's Chapter 1. They also count as the third double-boss fight in total, with the other duo bosses being Mystery Man and Shady Figure in Ophilia's Chapter 3.
