The Ventus Dynasty (ウィントス王朝, Wintosu Ōchō) is a royal lineage centered in the Highlands, with its seat of power located in Everhold and its history contained within the Tomb of Kings. This once-proud kingdom fell in the wake of a civil war between its rival princes.
History[]
Although the precise origins of the Ventus Dynasty are unknown, the Ventus kings once ruled over the city of Everhold. The reign of the dynasty was short, as war tore apart the kingdom after a few generations.
According to the quest A Royal Secret, King Ventus the Third was an ardent painter. He secretly abdicated his throne in order to pursue his artistic passion, appointing a lookalike to rule in his place. Despite the king's efforts to improve his realm, a fierce civil war soon tore the kingdom asunder.
126 years prior to the events of Octopath Traveler, the Ventus Dynasty erupted into war backed by two agnate princes. The elder prince, considered by the Tomb of Kings's gravekeeper to be "the better man," was the son born of the king's mistress. The younger prince, Simeon, was the royal son of the queen and the victor of the civil war. At his behest the Ventus castle was refurbished into a theater, and the Theatrum Dynasty was established.
Almost immediately after winning the war, however, Simeon vanished. Although Simeon went on to receive immortality from Lyblac and founded the Obsidians, the Ventus Dynasty crumbled after the war, and the kingdom collapsed.
Today, the Tomb of Kings contains the history of the Ventus Dynasty, retold by a nameless gravekeeper who tends to the ruins. According to rumor, a descendant of the Ventus Dynasty still lives in Stonegard, but the identity of this descendant and the veracity of the rumor remains untested.
