Story[]
(I don't think this is where I should be going at the moment...) The following section contains potential story spoilers! |
Not much is known about Vados and his early life. Despite being a member of the Kal, at some point he was inducted into the Moonshade Order. Two years prior to the events of Octopath Traveler II, he was in charge of renovating Flamechurch: Cathedral, during which time he also constructed the Cathedral Cellars.
One night, he was confronted by Temenos, the church's inquisitor, and Crick, a newly-appointed Sanctum Knight while outside the cathedral square and coerced by the former for information regarding the underground passage.
Some time after the pontiff's death and funeral, he made his way to Canalbrine, where he murdered Lucian, a scholar who was last seen talking to the pontiff, and an unknown apothecary in an attempt to complete a forbidden ritual. Later the following night, he made his way to a tavern to kill a popular dancer next, but was stopped by Crick and Temenos, who were also in town at the time. Foiled, he escaped and made his way to the Sacred Guard's ship, which was docked in an adjacent harbor. There, he was cornered by Temenos and Crick again, where he was defeated and subdued after he attempted to attack them. The Sacred Guard, led by Captain Kaldena, then arrived on the scene to take Vados into custody.
Later, Vados was escorted to Stormhail by Crick, but once there, Kaldena secretly had all records of his arrival removed, killed him for his page of the Book of Night, and disposed of his body outside the Sacred Guard headquarters, where it would later be found by Temenos and Crick, half-buried in snow.

Trivia[]
- Vados bears the mark of the Keepers of the Flame tattooed on his hand, as he is one of the final descendants of the Kal.
- In travel banter, Throné notes that Vados's messy killings are the work of an amateur, suggesting that he is unskilled with a dagger. This observation is supported by the fact that Vados wasn't able to kill Hermes when Temenos and Crick are on the scene and his reliance on spells rather than physical attacks during his boss battle.
