- "Those brutes are always coming around my shop, picking fights that no one ever sought. Can't they find someone else to bother?" —Elderly Shopowner
Up to No Good is a side story in Octopath Traveler. The tale begins by speaking with the Elderly Shopowner outside the house at the west end of the lowest tier of Stonegard Valleys.
Resolution[]
The side story may be resolved using one of two methods:
Challenge / Provoke[]
Use the Challenge or Provoke path action to duel Tobias ( Min Lvl: 5 / [Strength:2, HP:605, Weak:] ), located at the west side of the upper tier of Stonegard Valleys.
- Note: Dueling and defeating the Ruffian will cause a cut scene to play where the Ruffian and the Ruffian Lackey seem to retreat, but doing so will not bring the tale to an end as they will both immediately return.
The tale ends once Tobias is defeated.
"Thoroughly chastised, the wayward merchant Tobias vowed to turn over a new leaf and take over the shop."
Guide / Allure[]
Travel to Sunshade. Successfully use the Guide or Allure path action on the Amnesiac Girl ( Min Lvl: 1 / Base: 100% ) located outside the provisioner store.
The tale ends once the Amnesiac Girl is brought to the Ruffian.
- "The ruffian leader was reunited with his sister whom he had presumed dead. He has since changed his ways and now earns an honest living at the shop he once hassled."
Epilogue[]
Upon completion of the side story, the following occurs:
- If the Challenge/Provoke path is chosen:
- Elderly Shopowner relocates inside the house.
- Tobias relocates to where the Elderly Shopowner stood, guarding the door.
- Ruffian and Ruffian's Lackey relocate to the tavern in Stonegard.
- If the Guide/Allure path is chosen:
- Elderly Shopowner relocates inside the house.
- Ruffian relocates to where the Elderly Shopowner stood, guarding the door.
- Ruffian Lackey relocates next to the Ruffian.
- Amnesiac Girl changes her name to Layla and relocates next to the Ruffian.
Trivia[]
- The Elderly Shopowner offers a hint for the side story's Challenge/Provoke path, suggesting that the Ruffian and Ruffian Lackey are only persistent because someone else is coercing them.
- The Ruffian's Lackey offers a hint for the side story's Guide/Allure path, noting that the Ruffian didn't always used to be this way, suggesting that he changed ever since he lost his sister, Layla. The Amnesiac Girl notes that she can only remember one thing: the name Layla.
