Undertow Cove is a dungeon in Octopath Traveler. This sea cave is located in North Rippletide Coast, and has the highest danger level of any location in the inner ring of Orsterra.
Description[]
Decorated with ferns and grass, Undertow Cove is a large cavern lined with stalactites. One corner of the cave includes a small living space complete with crates, a carpet, and a lantern, where Vanessa Hysel dwells after completing Alfyn's story.
NPCs[]
- Vanessa Hysel: After completing Alfyn's story, Vanessa can be found at the deepest part of Undertow Cove. Failing rogue Path Actions on her will not deduct from the player's reputation.
- Professor Paul: After starting the sidequest Princess Mary, Redux this NPC can be found within the Cove. The player must use the Guide or Allure Path Actions to bring him back to Princess Mary.

- Undertow Cove is a rare dungeon in that its entrance is located on the north side of the rock face containing it, making it difficult to notice for players casually traveling around North Rippletide Coast; the entrance is in the north-east corner of the area, hidden behind a small stone hill.
- In the Japanese novel The Four Paths of Eight Travelers, Cyrus and Tressa explore Undertow Cove. In addition to discovering a Cetus Maximus and Black Scissors close to Rippletide for the first time, they also find the cavern full of glassfish, whose fluorescent shells glow blue-and-red and can be sold for a couple of leaves apiece. Cyrus notes that the cave has an unusual ecosystem since it contains fierce monsters normally only reported to roam around Grandport.
