The Whisperwood is a location in Octopath Traveler and the dungeon in H'aanit's Chapter 1. Located west of S'warkii, this forest is where hunters come to train.
Description[]
The Whisperwood is a dark, misty forest roamed by beasts. According to H'aanit's Chapter 1, this forest is part of the dominion of Lord Ciaran, who is known for his love for the Woodlands. During the beginning of H'aanit's story, dead wolves lie littered around the forest's entrance, slain by the savage Ghisarma.
Story[]
Shortly before the events of the game, a beast called the Ghisarma takes residence in the Whisperwood after being driven from its home. Enraged, the Ghisarma begins to kill for sport, slaughtering both merchants and animals as a show of its power. H'aanit, a huntress from the nearby town of S'warkii is tasked with hunting the beast. After splaying the Ghisarma, H'aanit leaves its body to be reclaimed by the forest.

- The Whisperwood has the lowest average experience yield from random encounters of any inner ring location—and by extension, location in the game—when at the highest possible Danger Level.
- During her first story chapter, H'aanit comments that the Ghisarma's baleful roar would not make a good fit for the Whisperwood, implying that the forest usually lives up to its quiet name.
- Prior to the cutscene where H'aanit shoots at the Ghisarma, there is no arrow lodged in the cliff at the end of the Whisperwood. After this cutscene, however, the arrow remains embedded into the landscape for the rest of the game.
- As revealed by H'aanit's story, the Whisperwood is home to a number of wolves. As these wolves do not appear as enemies, whether they are regular wolves or direwolves is unknown.
