The Wayward Son is a side story in Octopath Traveler. The tale begins by speaking to the Miserable Mother outside of the General Store in Orewell.

Resolution[]

Guide / Allure[]

Travel to Marsalim Palace in Marsalim. Successfully use the Guide or Allure path action on the Stern Knight (  Min Lvl: 45 /  Base: 15% ), located to the west of the palace entrance, right before the jail cell area.
The tale ends once the Stern Knight is brought to the Miserable Mother.
"Unable to forget his mother's scathing words, the young man worked hard to prove he was no "lily-livered ass" and became a fine knight. He has made his mother proud."

Epilogue[]

Upon completion of the side story, the following occurs:

  • The Miserable Mother changes her name to Proud Mother.
  • The Stern Knight changes his name to Kindly Knight.

Trivia[]

  • The Miserable Mother cannot be guided or allured, so the Stern Knight must be brought to her.
