"On an island lost in sea split twain, lies a portal to an alien plane. Beware! Be warned! Ye fools who'd approach, for none should draw near, this gate encroach." —Kaie the poet

???, later to be revealed as the Gate of Finis, is a location in The Sundering Sea. This Gate is the Solistian counterpart of the one in Orsterra. Beyond its doors lies the layer of Hell where the gods sealed Galdera the Fallen away.

Story[]

Crafted by Finis, the Gate of Finis serves as an entrance to the Underworld.

According to Champions of the Continent, both the Orsterran and Solistian Gate of Finis are one and the same. When Salomon opened the Gate in Orsterra, the Solistian Gate opened as well. Lucian, a being born from Galdera's accursed flames, descended to Solistia to fulfill his Dark God's will of resurrection and conquest.[1]

Champions of the Continent: Side Solistia[]

Tomb of Ouma Vicinity

Tomb of Ouma Vicinity

As a phenomena related to the Gate and Galdera, the Tomb of Ouma (the region covering the depths of the Ouma Realm) appears in the exact location of the Gate as a tear in the world map.

Side Quest[]

This island contains several rare chests and what appears to be an empty wall.

Upon completing three certain quests, the side quest A Gate Between Worlds will become available, the location changes its name to Gate of Finis, and the blank wall transforms into the gate, enabling the player to enter and battle Galdera.

After Galdera's defeat, the Gate of Finis is permanently sealed shut, returning to a blank wall.

Trivia[]

  • When entering the area, the location name after "Gate of" is displayed in the font used throughout the series to mimic Orsterran text.
  • The layout beyond the gate's doors mirrors that of the original Gate of Finis in Octopath Traveler, with the exception that this gateway to Journey's End is automatically open and not tied to a separately loaded area.
  • The island's chests contain three Herb-of-Grace buds and a skystone, both of which are references to items in the original Octopath Traveler. Herb-of-grace is the remedy used by H'aanit to ward off Redeye's petrification, while skystones are the minerals that Tressa bought and sold in her second chapter.
  • During the Journey for the Dawn, the Gate of Finis reverts back to its "???" form. Its gate is replaced by an impassable wall, preventing the player from confronting Galdera until the Journey for the Dawn is completed.
  • It's possible that "crossing" between Orsterra and Solistia is enabled by the Gate being a common location between both continents (hence its title "Gate between Worlds"). This theory may be reinforced by the fact that Lucian was working to connect the twin worlds for Galdera through the Ouma and the Tomb of Ouma (a chaotic region where times and spaces collide) located "underneath" the Gate of Finis.
