"His lordship has gone a'wandering in search of adventure. I do wish he would return home, or at least have someone to keep him safe" —Servant

The Adventuring Life is a side story in Octopath Traveler. It is activated by talking to the Servant in front of the tavern in Riverford.

Travel to Atlasdam Palace Gate. Use the Guide/Allure Path Action to bring the Enthusiastic Youth in front of Atlasdam's library to Mysterious Knight (later revealed as Cervantes) located right outside of Dragonsong Fane in South Orewell Pass to complete the side story.

After a long and lonely road, Cervantes finally found an eager squire to share in his journey.

Alternatively, use the Challenge/Provoke Path Action to best Cervantes to complete the side story.

Bested in battle, Cervantes felt as though he had seen enough of the world and decidedly returned home.

Trivia[]

  • Enthusiastic Youth appears only after completing Cyrus' Chapter 1.
  • Upon completion of the side story via Guide/Allure route Mysterious Knight becomes Cervantes and Enthusiastic Youth is relocated to South Orewell Pass and becomes Proud Squire.
  • Upon completion of the side story via Challenge/Provoke route Mysterious Knight is relocated to Riverford and becomes Cervantes.
  • This is likely a Don Quixote reference. The spanish novel was written by Miguel de Cervantes, and likewise features a self-appointed knight who eventually gets himself a squire.
