Stollenwurm is a divine beast appearing in the Emberflame Story of Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent.

Story

The divine beast watching over the felines. When Galdera declared the war to the 12 gods, Stollenwurm allied itself with the gods, sacrificing part of its power to seal the Eye of Calamity and allowing the gods to triumph over the thirtheen god. After the battle, the divine beast went into a slumber in the Sacred Tree of the Sacred Springs, and its embers were entrusted to its cat retainers.

Emberflame Story

At some point, the seal on the Eye of Calamity began to weaken, allowing its power, the Accursed Halo, to manifest over Orsterra for a short time. The Chosen One and Ditraina embark on the task of collecting the embers of the divine beasts to awaken them from their slumber and strengthen the Sacred Tree.

When the Chosen One gets the divine beast's arcanastone, an intruder manages to enter the Sacred Springs and confronts them. Finding himself cornered, the hooded figure summons Kulshedra, a false divine beast enshrouded by darkness, making it impervious to any attack. When the false beast prepares to launch its most powerful attack, Stollemwurm suggests the travelers to use its arcanastone and summon its power. The divine beast's attack dispels the veil of darkness over the false beast, allowing it to be brought down by the Chosen One

Etymology

Stollenwurm is one of the name of the Tatzelwurm, a legendary creature from the Alpic folklore.
