Ryu is a small desert town in Octopath Traveler II. It is where Hikari's Chapter 1 ends, and where he can be recruited if he is not chosen as the protagonist.
According to the Mercantile Manuscript, Ryu is a well-known traveler's stop where information from all across the world eventually settles.

Story Battle:
If Hikari is not chosen as the protagonist, walking to the right will trigger a scene in which Hikari defends villagers from a pair of Ruffian Soldiers. The player will be prompted with the choice to help Hikari fight the soldiers or not. If the player says yes, the Ruffian Soldiers will engage in battle.

- The price to restore reputation in Ryu is 3,750 leaves.
- Ryu is single-handedly run by an old man who raised the outpost out of the ground with his own money, and is now known for this honesty and fairness among the travelers who pass through. One of the peddlers is attempting to claim the outpost on his own and has already made a number of investments to raise his own stature, but the elder in charge permits him to do so for the sake of Ryu's development.
- Among Ryu's residents is a man who lends out horses, camels, and more to those in need.
