Ruby is a character in Octopath Traveler II. She is a resident of Timberain and Emerald's mother.

Personality[]
Ever since her son's arrest and the deaths of his wife and daughter, Ruby has been estranged from her son. She refuses to forgive him for his reckless behavior, but finally makes peace with him after reading his message in a bottle.
Story[]
Before Emerald sacrificed himself to help Osvald escape from Frigit Isle, he penned a letter to his mother and cast it adrift. A lighthouse keeper at Lighthouse Island later discovered this message, where she holds it until the player obtains it from her.
When the player delivers the message to Ruby, she realizes that her son gave his life to atone for his family's deaths. At last, she realizes that she can forgive him after all.
