Priestess Hinoekagura is a boss in Octopath Traveler II. She is the guardian of the fifth and final floor of the Five-Tiered Tower and one of the guardians that must be defeated to complete the A Tower of Trials side story.
Once she is defeated, the side story is complete, and the travelers will receive a Proof of the Conjurer, unlocking the Conjurer job.
Battle[]
Priestess Hinoekagura begins with two actions per turn.
As her first action, she will imbue each of her physical attacks with a secondary, fire elemental attack.
She will periodically change into an onslaught form that changes her weaknesses and uses exclusively physical attacks, each of which are followed by a secondary elemental attack.
At 66% of her maximum health, Priestess Hinoekagura will increase her maximum shields to 10 and imbue each of her physical attacks with a secondary, ice elemental attack that also drains SP.
At 33% of her maximum health, Priestess Hinoekagura will increase her maximum shields to 13 and imbue each of her physical attacks with a secondary, lightning elemental attack that also has a chance to inflict

Etymology[]
"Hinoekagura" can be broken down into a number of individual components. "Hino," a Japanese surname, is primarily related to "sun" or "fire" and "field" or "plain," with the most common interpretation being "sun field." This meaning could reflect Hinoekagura's involvement with the elements and relationship with the seasonal, celestial cycles of the conjurer class. The term "Hinoe" refers to the third or ten heavenly stems in the traditional East Asian calendar system, again reflecting the priestess's ritual connection to the heavens.
"Kagura" (神楽) is a Japanese term referring to a type of Shinto ritualistic dance, the word being a contraction of "kami no kura" (meaning "seat of the gods"). The term signifies the place where the gods are believed to reside during the ceremony, with the dances serving as a form of entertainment and communication with the divine—a meaning that reflects Hinoekagura's own ritual dances.
Trivia[]
