- "Little Miss Tough Girl here's on her way out of town. Show her the boot, and take her purse for the trouble!" —Before battle
Plukk is a character in Octopath Traveler II. She is a thief based in Winterbloom, and the boss of Castti's Chapter 2: Winterbloom Route.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Plukk has messy blond hair and wears an eyepatch over her left eye. She is dressed in a green dress with a thigh slit, a ragged scarf of the same color, brown leather gloves that extend up to her shoulders, and brown leather boots.
Personality[]
Rowdy, loud-mouthed and quick to violence, Plukk appears to be a standard ruffian at first glance. However, her backstory implies that her brash exterior is at least partially a front, created to cope with her past trauma. She can be quite understanding and gentle when she wants to be, such as when she helps Melia after she agrees to get her a job. Plukk's criminal activities belie her true desires: since her youth, she has secretly dreamed of being a florist.
Story[]
(I don't think this is where I should be going at the moment...) The following section contains potential story spoilers! |
In her youth, Plukk was sold to a brothel to pay off her debts. There she lost an eye for lying to save her closest companion, after which she stooped to banditry in an effort to find her own path and master the whims of fate.
Plukk first appears during Castti's Chapter 2, working as one of Greg's enforcers. At Greg's behest, Plukk has helped kidnap Melia so that Castti would be forced to let him inherit the town from Rosa. However, Plukk eventually grows bored of Greg's talking and goes against his orders, attempting to make Castti leave by force alongside her two lackeys Mikk and Makk. They are soundly defeated, and Greg is forced to make amends for his mistake.
After Castti's story is completed, Plukk is shown to still be active in Winterbloom, having taken over the Snowhares after Bergomi's death. Thieving has slowed down significantly, though Plukk refuses to resort to the same human trafficking operation that the original leader used. She devises a plan to steal from Melia by feigning repentance in a letter and requesting that she hire them so they can get easy access to her manor. After procuring the letter from her and showing it to Melia, she thinks about whether or not to arrest Plukk. In the end, Melia chooses to offer her and her lackeys jobs as gardeners, giving them a chance to show redemption. Plukk is impressed by Melia's consideration for her and decides to give up thievery, taking up an honest life as a gardener alongside Mikk and Makk.
Plukk will begin battle accompanied by Mikk and Makk.
Mikk and Makk each guard two of her weaknesses; breaking each will temporarily unlock those weaknesses until they recover from break. The guarded weaknesses become completely unlocked once the respective minion is defeated.

Once both Mikk and Makk are defeated, Plukk will gain 3 actions per turn.

Etymology[]
The name "Plukk" (spelled to match the names of her minions "Mikk" and "Makk") is inspired by the English word "pluck," which can be used as a verb (meaning "to take hold of [something] and quickly remove it from its place") or as a noun (meaning "spirited and determined courage"). Both meanings suit Plukk's character, as the former emphasizes her thieving practices while the latter reinforces her bold personality.
Trivia[]
- Plukk has crude handwriting, as evidenced by her letter to Melia.
- Challenging Plukk to battle requires the player to fight her, Mikk, and Makk all at once, a feature unique to Plukk as a named NPC.
