- "I met Arcanette when I was young, and it was then that I swore myself to her service. Ever since, I have hunted for her and her alone, even slaying the legendary monster known as the 'Guardian of the First Flame' at her behest. Sometimes, I hunted people too, like the time I came to possess the Darkblood Bow. Once again, my lady has use of me, and so I shall gladly obey." —Petrichor
Petrichor, also known as the Dark Hunter, is a member of the Moonshade Order and the indirect antagonist of Ochette's story.
Ten years ago, Petrichor captured either Mahina or Akalā (whoever Ochette didn't choose as her companion) and delivered them to Harvey, who transformed the beast into the Darkling of the Sorrowful Moon. Despite serving as the main antagonist of Ochette's story, Petrichor is never fought during it.
History[]
Taken under Arcanette's wing as a child, Petrichor swore undying loyalty to Arcanette and her "Great Wish" to end the world. Petrichor acted behind the scenes to exacerbate the Night of the Scarlet Moon by hunting the Creatures of Legend, felling Cateracta and shattering Glacis's egg.
In order to create a beast filled with misery and hatred, Petrichor captured Ochette's rejected companion, transforming it into Darkling of the Sorrowful Moon by subjecting it to Harvey's experiments. She also retrieved the Darkblood Bow from Roi, per Arcanette's orders, and most likely killed him in the process.
At last, on the Night of the Scarlet Moon, Petrichor offers herself up as a sacrifice for the Darkling to kill so that Toto'haha's Sacred Flame can be extinguished.

Trivia[]
- Petrichor is the only known member of the Moonshade Order who has not met any of the main characters directly before her death.
- The Grotesque Monster fought during the Journey for the Dawn may be a revived and transformed version of Petrichor, as she was killed by the Darkling in the same location the monster appears, and it guards the Sacred Flame to stop anyone from rekindling it.
- It also drops the Black Bow upon defeat, a primary weapon that the Hunter class uses.
- Petrichor's name is in reference to "petrichor," the pleasant smell that frequently accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather.
- Petrichor claims to have slain the Guardian of the First Flame at Arcanette's behest, referring to a boss that appears in the original Octopath Traveler.
