- "Welcome home, Agnie. You were workin' late tonight again." —To Agnea
Pala Bristarni is a character in Octopath Traveler II.
As Agnea’s perceptive younger sister, Pala calls her big sister “Agnie” and supports her dream with all her heart.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Pala wears a pink-and-white apron and keeps her brown hair in twin ponytails.
Personality[]
Pala is kindhearted, outgoing, and encouraging, always willing to support her family and to encourage others to follow their dreams. She also seems to be emotionally sensitive, since Agnea mentions that Pala gets sad easily and cried long after her mother's death.
History[]
Pala was born in Cropdale and grew up alongside her older sister, Agnea. During that time, she and her family would accompany her mother, Cuani, during her performance tours until her passing due to illness.
While preparing for the upcoming festival in Cropdale, Pala ventured into the Veil of Trees to collect raspberries for some pies, not knowing there was a duorduor on the loose in the forest. After some time, she came across Agnea and Gus, who went into the forest looking for her and engaging the duorduor, knocking it out in the process. After returning to Cropdale, Pala witnessed Agnea receiving a new dress from Garud as well as her dance performance at the festival.
The next day, she and the other townsfolk saw Agnea off at the village entrance.
Pala would later accompany her father to Merry Hills to watch and give Agnea support for her battle against Dolcinaea Luciel and witnessed her victory against the superstar.
After Vide's defeat, Pala would meet the travelers in Agnea's stead outside the theater in New Delsta before going inside to watch her sister's performance.
Mikka's Next Chapter[]
One day, while working at home, Pala heard about Mikka Mishuyo, a Ku: Castle Town resident who was overworked and in need of new clothes. Garud tailored her a new kimono with Pala delivering it back to Ku personally with an escort. Grateful for the gift, Mikka invited Pala back to her home for a meal, which the latter enjoyed. Seeing kindred spirits in each other, the two formed a strong friendship, with Mikka gifting one of her earrings to Pala before the latter returned to Cropdale.

Etymology[]
"Pala" is a name of Scandinavian origin derived from the Old Norse word "palli," which means "humble" or "small." Pala's name thus reflects her youth and humble country origins.
Pala's surname, "Bristarni," may be derived from the Danish word "briste," meaning "to burst" (likely, in context of her character, with enthusiasm).
Trivia[]
- During the epilogue, if Agnea was chosen as the starting traveler, Pala will arrive in New Delsta in Agnea's place to find the other travelers prior to her performance.
- As a summonable NPC, Pala has a strength of 2, with her special skill being Peppy Step.
- Pala claims to have poor cooking skills, which became especially evident when Agnea set out on her journey. Pala had to do all of the cooking for herself and Garud, but since she only knew how to make a single recipe, they ate nothing but raspberry pie for three days and nights.
