- "This is the den of the Obsidians. I cannot guarantee your safety should you choose to go forward, my lady." —Revello to Primrose
Obsidian Manse is a dungeon in Octopath Traveler. This mansion dungeon serves as the stronghold of Albus, one of Geoffrey Azelhart's killers; as such, it is the setting for the climax of Primrose's third chapter.
Description[]
Obsidian Manse is a luxurious mansion, its midnight-blue color scheme mirroring the dark hearts of its Obsidian owners. As grand as it is, the manse is damaged and dilapidated, making it unique amongst the game's manses. Players enter first into a storage room, piled with crates and spear racks leaning against a bare, scuffed wall; continuing into the mansion, one of the building’s central staircases has been snapped in half, suggesting either that the manse’s criminal occupants are serious vandals or that the mansion has decayed over the years. The second half of the mansion is in better repair, its lower floor containing wooden tables and a bar, while the dining room above is arranged in pristine order.

Trivia[]
- The Obsidian Manse has the highest average JP yield from random encounters of any middle ring area. This makes the Obsidian Manse an ideal grinding spot between Chapters 3 and 4.
- During her Chapter 3, Primrose automatically enters the Obsidian Manse through a side door, so the player is never required to enter this dungeon manually. The mansion's main entrance never opens.
- The Obsidians may have some experience with taming monsters, given that ravens, slugs, and spiders patrol the mansion.
- The Obsidian Manse appears to be used for smuggling goods, since sacks, crates, barrels, and weapons can be seen piled throughout the manse. The first section of the mansion is in notable disrepair (with an entire staircase broken), perhaps intended as a front for the building to appear abandoned; the second half is notably better-kept.
- The second half of the mansion opens up into a spacious dining room, with tables spaced around and a full bar with drinks installed. A number of swords and a pair of chalkboards can be seen arrayed on the wall, suggesting that this may be a gathering area for Obsidian agents to meet, celebrate, and plan their next moves. A much more luxurious dining room sits on the floor above—possibly reserved for the leaders.
- Although Simeon presumably enters the boss room via a secret passage in the dining room next door, no such passageway is available to players.
- One of the mansion's rooms contains a pair of tables strewn with papers, books, and scrolls, along with a black feather quill. One could imagine Simeon writing his plays here.
