Northreach is a town in Octopath Traveler, where Therion's Chapter 4 takes place.
Description[]
Northreach is a large snowbound city perched at the peak of a mountain, with its entryway including a long stone bridge spanning a frozen lake. The city's grand historical structures—such as a towering wall, drawbridge, and Lorn Cathedral—hint at a past of significance, but in the present day its buildings have fallen into disrepair. Darius and his gang of thieves control the city, ensuring that crime runs rampant in the icy streets. True to its name, the city stands farther north than any other town in Orsterra, and embodies a cold, grim atmosphere. Mistrust and violence cloud the city under Darius’s reign.

Etymology[]
"Northreach" is comprised of "north" + "reach," referring to the city's far-flung location in the northernmost reaches of Orsterra. Additionally, "reach" could evoke images of someone grasping toward an object desired (as a thief might do), reflecting the greed of Darius and his ruling gang.
Trivia[]
- The price to restore reputation in Northreach is 1,000 leaves.
- House Byron was a noble and prestigious house that once ruled Northreach. The house sacrificed much for the sake of Northreach and was beloved by all for it, though it later fell into obscurity.
- According to Ogen, Mind-Me-Always blossoms used to grow in the mountains around Northreach, but they have since disappeared.
- The gravestone of Ogen's wife, Melyssa, can be seen by the entrance of Lorn Cathedral.
- Ogen and Melyssa's former house on the left side of Northreach (as identified flashbacks) can be visited in the present, where it is now guarded by a townsperson and contains a purple chest.
- During his Chapter 4, Therion's wanted poster appears in Northreach's tavern. It disappears once his story is complete.
- Northreach is referred to multiple times as a "village," although its size makes it one of the largest cities in Orsterra.
- The dialogue of most NPCs changes after Therion's Chapter 4 is complete, along with some biographies.
