Mikk and Makk will fight alongside each other.
Once one of the pirates reaches 50% of their maximum health, the pirate with the lower health will use Me mate's got me back!. This grants a high chance that the other pirate will protect the one who uses Me mate's got me back from single target physical attacks and skills, taking the damage and effects instead of the other pirate.
Once one of the pirates has been defeated, the remaining pirate will use We'll make ye walk the plank!, gaining a temporary increase to Physical Attack and Physical Defense.
- Attack: Physical attack, single target.
- Slice: Heavy physical attack, single target.
- Mutiny: Physical attack, targets entire party.
- Me mate's got me back!: Used when Mikk reaches 50% of his maximum health. Makk has a chance to protect Mikk from single target physical attack and skills, taking the damage and effects instead of Mikk. Functions similar to the Warrior Support Skill Cover.

Trivia[]
- The victory fanfare does not play after Mikk and Makk's boss battle, as "Decisive Battle I" continues through the results screen and the following cutscene. This makes Mikk and Makk's battle the only true boss fight in the game to forgo the victory fanfare.
- A duo named Mikk and Makk return in Octopath Traveler 2, where the men serve as brute henchmen rather than pirates.
- Mikk and Makk had two early boss sprites created from Naoki Ikushima's character designs, but they ended up being remodeled to match the dynamism of other bosses. Their movements almost skew toward the comical.[1]
- During her Chapter 3, Tressa addresses Mikk and Makk as "Nick and Knack," prompting Makk to retaliate by calling Rippletide "Drippleslime."
