History[]
Fifteen years ago, Meylan's parents were convicted of stealing the Sapphire Wreath and sentenced to death by Judge Astell. Because of this, Meylan swore vengeance on the judge who took his family from him. Meylan was taken in by his aunt in New Delsta: Backstreets, but ten years ago he left to avenge his parents, leaving her embittered by his failure to repay her for her care.
To get closer to the judge, Meylan took a job as a courthouse guard and while there, took notice of two cases of innocence and guilt. Conspiring with the infamous thief Nero, Meylan managed to steal a sword from the armorer while Nero took the fall for the theft. When he sensed his opportunity, Meylan confronted and murdered Judge Astell, after which he was immediately arrested and placed on trial.
At first, Meylan's innocence appeared obvious, as neither the murder weapon nor his motive could be ascertained. Eventually, however, the stolen sword was discovered downstream in Southern Timberain Trail, and Meylan's aunt disclosed his vengeful motive. Nero also testified against Meylan, identifying him as his partner in crime.
After the evidence was leveled against him, Meylan revealed to the court that the thief that stole the Sapphire Wreath was Astell himself. Astell had described the wreath as "black," demonstrating that he knew its true color, a detail that none but the royal family should have known. After giving directions to the treasures the corrupt judge stole, Meylan was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder by the court.
