Mesara is a character in Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent. He is a bandit who appears in the Master of All storyline, being the boss of Chapter I.

Story[]
Before the current events. Mesara was a soldier serving in the Edoras army. On one occasion the troop to which he belonged returned victorious from a battle, but the attitude of the troop captain was disrespectul towards the King Pardis III, since when he should have been bowed before the King, the captain had visual contact with the monarch and briefly forgot his modals. That was enough for Pardis to order his immediate execution and to exile every soldier of the troop out of the country. Mesara, alongside some of them were forced to become bandits to survive.
He and his fellow bandits ambushed the Chosen One and Lebrandt when they were looking for a flower for Princess Alaune in the Gray Grotto. Recognizing Lebrandt's crest as someone from Edoras, Mesara demanded money in exchange of their life. When Mesara got into an attack stance, Lebrandt recognized that stance and asked him if he was from Edoras too. Seeing they wouldn't yield to his request, Mesara attacks them.
Once defeated, Lebrandt questions him why someone with swordsmanship isn't serving the king. The bandit replies that he would rather die than serve Pardis again. He tells them his whole story and asks Lebrandt to kill him, since it won't change anything and he won't quit his bandit ways. He claimed he would see the monarch's demise in the hell before Lebrandt's fatal strike.
Mesara will begin the battle with two thieves.
- Attack - Deal standard physical damage to single target.
- With a daunting look, Mesara the Thief takes aim.: Impart Phys. Def. Down to random target 3 time(s) for 3 turns.
- Sweep - Deal damage to Front.
- Gouge: Deal damage to single target. Impart Phys. Atk. Down for 2 turns.
- Preemptive Slash: Deal damage to single target. Impart self with Spd. Up for 2 turns.
- Lifesteal Sword: Deal damage to single target. Absorb 60% of damage dealt as HP.
- Lifesteal Rush: Deal damage to single target 2 times. Absorb 90% of damage dealt as HP.
- Emboldened Slash: Deal damage to single target. Impart self with Phys. Atk. Up for 3 turns.
- Skull Thrust: Deal damage to single target. Impart Phys. Atk. Down for 4 turns.
