Memoirs

In Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, memoirs are a collection of short cutscenes, which typically allow players to re-experience moments from the game's main story or experience side moments not featured in the main story, similar to Travel Banter in Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II.

There are two major categories of Memoirs: Tales of Orsterra and Traveler's Log.

Tales of Orsterra

Traveler

Traveler memoirs more closely match the Travel Banter model, showing characters interacting with each other rather than an in-game scene.

Veteran Hero

Veteran Hero is a special category for the initial CotC 5-stars to interact with the eight Veteran characters.

• Secrets of a Hunter: Scarecrow discusses tricks of the trade with the Tottering Old Man.
• Felling a Big Tree: Theo learns about strength from the Great Architect.
• My Tome is My Sword and Shield: Sofia discusses the power of knowledge with the Master of Books.
• In Being Benevolent: Millard discusses his reasons for fighting with the Reflective Grandma.
• Rumor's Truth: Gilderoy discusses strength with the Energetic Old Woman.
• A Thief and an Escort: Viola talks about combat with the Powerful Pauper.
• Rhythm and Smile: Lynette discusses dancing with the Sandcat Dancer.
• Let Your Sword Do the Talking: Fiore discusses her study of the sword with the Former Warrior.

Photo Memoirs

Photo Memoirs are released to commemorate special events, and give the player a scene in which their active party members are place.

• "Octopus Traveler and Wave Wayfarers" provides a beach scene featuring the active party members and the octopus traveler.
• "Banquet of Heroes: Chompers and Travelers" provides a scene within the Skew featuring the active party members, the King Chomper, and various other chompers. This is part of the Bravely Default collaboration event.
• "Memory of the Master of Wealth" provides a recreation of the boss fight against Herminia, featuring her boss sprite and the active party.
• "Memory of the Master of Power" provides a recreation of the boss fight against Tytos, featuring his boss sprite and the active party.
• "Memory of the Master of Fame" provides a recreation of the boss fight against Auguste, featuring his boss sprite and the active party.

Theatre of Memories

Theatre of Memories are a special category under the Photo heading. Rather than a single image for the player to situate their characters, the Theatre of Memories are "re-enactments" of key scenes from the main story, only with the player's party members in the place of the key characters (and Isla the Cait Scholar standing in for the Chosen One). The same scene is used for both the "Rehearsal" and the "Performance," but the former substitutes the party members' regular parks for spoken lines while the latter uses the original spoken dialogue of the scene. Some animations and blocking are different between the two versions as well.

• "Theatre of Memories: Introduction" - Isla the Cait Scholar explains that some books within the Archives contain memories that are fading away. They encourage the Chosen One's band to become a troupe that can re-enact these memories so that they can be remembered.
• "Theatre of Memories: Master of Wealth - Rehearsal" re-enacts an early scene from the Master of Wealth story, where Lady Herminia throws a banquet attended by Bargello, his family, and Lord Taviani's gang.
• "Theatre of Memories: Master of Wealth - Performance" re-enacts the same scene using the original spoken dialogue.
• "Theatre of Memories: Master of Wealth - Photo" provides a photo moment within the banquet hall of Herminia's Manse.
• "Theatre of Memories: Master of Power - Rehearsal" re-enacts a scene from the Master of Power story, where Lord Tytos demonstrates the power of the scarlet elixir on an unfortunate servant.
• "Theatre of Memories: Master of Power - Performance" re-enacts the same scene using the original spoken dialogue.
• "Theatre of Memories: Master of Power - Photo" provides a photo moment within the study where the above scene takes place.
• "Theatre of Memories: Master of Fame - Rehearsal" re-enacts an early scene from the Master of Fame story, where Auguste the Playwright accepts accolades from spectators of his latest play.
• "Theatre of Memories: Master of Fame - Performance" re-enacts the same scene using the original spoken dialogue.
• "Theatre of Memories: Master of Fame - Photo" provides a photo moment within the theatre lobby in Theatropolis.
