"I promise you I'll grow up to be a kind and just ruler... just like you. So don't worry about me, Mother." —To Rosa

Lady Melia Glenville is a character in Octopath Traveler II. She is the daughter of Rosa Glenville and the current co-ruler of Winterbloom, alongside Greg. She appears during Castti's Chapter 2: Winterbloom Route.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Melia has short brown hair and wears an orange dress.

Personality[]

Despite her young age, Melia possesses solemnity, wisdom, and determination beyond her years. She diligently worked for years to treat her ailing mother, and her foremost desire is to follow in her mother's footsteps as a kind and just leader. When Castti reveals the truth of her mother's failing condition, Melia thanks the apothecary for her honesty rather than seeking a sugercoated lie. Melia also appears to have a forgiving nature, as she accepts Greg as her co-ruler despite his acts against her.

Story[]

Melia was born as the daughter to Rosa Glenville and an unknown father. At some point while she grew up, her mother was diagnosed with a debilitating illness which slowly paralyzed her body as time went on. Many apothecaries were called to help her mother, but none were able to come up with a treatment for her. Around that time, she met Trousseau, one of the many apothecaries that tried to treat her mother. Recognizing his kind heart, Melia grew close to him for a time.

One day, two members of a group called Eir's Apothecaries came to see Rosa, and they were able to find a treatment that slowed the progression of her disease. Before departing, the leader of the group, Castti Florenz, gave Melia some herbs and instructions for treatment and working together, both built a garden to grow them to allow for Rosa to continue receiving medicine.

As time passed, Rosa became bedridden, and one day, as she returned home from the garden with some medicinal herbs, she met Castti (who was suffering from amnesia) once again, and both went to the garden to gather more herbs to make an elixir for Rosa. Upon their return, they found Greg, a cousin of Melia's, having an unpleasant conversation with her mother. Angrily calling him out for his behavior, she immediately told him to leave, though she accepted his request to be escorted out. Unfortunately, she was knocked out by Greg and brought to Winterbloom: Thieves' Quarter, where she was found by Castti after being told by Greg in a ransom note for her to come alone. After Castti defeated the trio of thieves that Greg hired and reprimanded Greg for his actions, Melia woke up, and she was brought back home.

Some time later, after a series of events including continuing her mother's treatment, a heart-to-heart with Lily and forgiving Greg for his role in her abduction, Melia's 12th birthday came around, and she was bequeathed the title and lands alongside Greg, as well as a gift from her mother before she passed away peacefully. Afterwards, in the garden, Melia asked Castti about Trousseau, which jogged some memories of her former comrade before the latter departed Winterbloom.

Melia's Next Chapter[]

Melia began working tirelessly as the new lady of House Glenville, though did not get much help from Greg due to his lack of confidence in work. One day, she received a report from Lily about another burglary in town caused by a small group of Snowhares led by Plukk. After a discreet investigation was conducted on the Snowhares' true motives, the group was invited into the manse by Melia herself, where she revealed that she knew of their plans before she brought them into her garden, with the intent to hire them as gardeners. However, she almost collapsed due to overwork, but was caught by Plukk, who praised her for having the makings of a good leader before formally agreeing to work for her after returning all the stolen goods.
