Maw of the Ice Dragon is an optional dungeon in Octopath Traveler, located in the Southern Northreach Wilds.
Description[]
Maw of the Ice Dragon is a frozen cave filled with towering icicles. Although no dragons dwell here, the cavern is home to packs of direwolves, led by the savage Dreadwolf.

Trivia[]
- Due to most of the enemies here being weak to bow attacks, bringing a hunter and using Arrowstorm is an effective way of ending battles fast.
- That, combined with the fact that random encounters here average ~750 XP (if the break bonus is added), makes this one of the best places for farming levels. Warmaster's Extra Experience ability augments this gain even further, allowing the player to get up to 1,300 XP from some encounters.
- War Wolves and Snow Leopards, the 2 most common enemies of the area, also have a high probability to drop medium Healing Grapes and Inspiriting Plums, making Maw of the Ice Dragon a good place for farming both items.
- This is the only location where all three variants of Caits can be found.
