Maruf is a character in Octopath Traveler. He is Ali's father.
Story[]
Maruf was once a prosperous merchant known throughout the south. He was famous for his silver tongue—it was said that he could sell sand in the desert. However, one of Maruf's friends tricked him into taking on a large amount of debt, and Maruf's merchant career was ruined.
Maruf's son, Ali, left his father behind in order to kick off his own business. In The Adventures of Ali, Ali succeeded in gathering enough money for the two of them to set up a new shop together in Marsalim, although the two continue to clash over business ideas.
