Man is a character in Octopath Traveler. A nameless member of the Obsidians, he appears alongside Esmeralda in Tressa's Chapter 4.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Man has gray hair and wears black garments, along with a dark cape.
Personality[]
During his brief appearance, Man appears to be a taciturn accomplice to Esmeralda, intrigued enough by the prospect of gold to delay completing his mission. His avarice leads him into opportunism, bluffing about the worth of his watches in the hopes of scamming Ali.
Story[]
On a mission to obtain Graham Crossford's notebook, Man accompanies Esmeralda to Grandport. After Esmeralda snatches the notebook from Tressa, the pair of Obsidians reunite in the Grandport Bazaar, from which they plan to make their getaway through the sewers. Tressa enlists Ali's help in distracting the man while she pursues Esmeralda.
Employing his silver tongue, Ali approaches the man claiming that he possesses a valuable artifact known as "Ziqqurat's Watch." Describing this watch as the famed timepiece of the "King of the East," Ali tricks the man into seeking an advantageous business deal. The man unwittingly plays along by asserting that he has even more valuable watches to offer. The two remain in the bazaar while Esmeralda disappears into the sewers, Tressa hot in pursuit.
After finding out about the man's wanted status, Ali turns him over to the guards, thwarting his plans of escape.
Trivia[]
- Like Esmeralda, the Man reuses voice clips rather than possessing any voice acting of his own.
