Lucian is a minor character in Octopath Traveler II and a scholarly theologian residing in Canalbrine.
Story[]
At some point during his travels and studies, Lucian penned many different works, including an important book called The Final Night. He also came across the people of Crackridge and the instructions for a dark ritual intended for use in resurrecting Vide. Lucian went to Flamechurch to warn the pontiff of his findings - a meeting of which Inquisitor Temenos took note - and then returned to Canalbrine to continue his research.
At some point after the pontiff's death, Lucian's body was found dead in his home. Temenos discovered that Lucian was murdered by Vados, after Vados killed an unnamed apothecary in order to instigate a dark curse. Temenos and Crick used Lucian's body and notes to deduce the killer's next target: Hermes the dancer.

"Lucian" is a name of Latin origin meaning "light," which ironically contrasts Lucian's night-themed writings.
