Limit Break is an exclusive game mechanic in Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent that allows a Traveler to raise their level cap.

Limit Breaking requires Guidestones. Depending on character and the classes, it will require a specific grade for limit breaking. These generally are:

Class Boards and Overclass[]
The class boards are boards who allows the unit to increase their stats and unlocks passive and active skills to stengthen the traveler. Job Points or JP are needed to activate board slots. Those can only be obtained by leveling the character.
Upon Side Solistia release, the overclass mechanic was introduced. It's an extension of the job board mechanic who allows a traveler (even the 3★) to reach the max level available. Every class had their own Heroic Seal, with the 3★ needing 3-star Heroic Seal to unlock the last board and viceversa.
Travelers such as Elvis, Serenoa, Nanna and Mirgardi had their own Heroic Seals and the means to get them varies per character.
