- "There's no need for titles. I was born here, too, lest you forget." —To the commoners of Ku
Kura is a character in Octopath Traveler II. She was Jigo Ku's second wife and mother to Hikari Ku.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Kura has black hair tied into an elaborate hairstyle and wears a long cream-colored robe with red, pink, and gold accents.
Personality[]
Kura is known for her kindness, which she spreads to all people regardless of whether they are nobility and commoners. She rose from humble origins to become the king's second wife, but she never lost her love for the common people, and she also demonstrates maternal affection for her son.
Story[]
Not much is known about Kura's early life, though at some point she married Jigo Ku and had a son, Hikari.
Kura raised Hikari to be kind and just, and she also introduced him to Jin Mei and Rai Mei when Clan Mei swore fealty to Ku. She often tended to her sons's wounds when he injured himself during training, but she did not discourage him from honing his skills. It was Kura's influence that caused King Jigo to turn away from war, seeking a peaceful future for his nation.
One day, while out in town with her son, Kura was accosted by bandits hired by Jin Mei. In a plot orchestrated by General Mugen, Jin's bandits murdered Kura and prepared to do the same to Hikari. Stricken by his mother's death, young Hikari gave way to his accursed blood and the bloodthirsty "Hikari" manifested for the first time, slaughtering all of the bandits.

Trivia[]
- Kura is implied to be a member of the Lumina Clan, as Hikari's Latent Power changes from Shadow's Hold to Light's Radiance upon the conclusion of his main story.
- According to Mugen, Kura's clan once attempted to save the world from the Shadow long ago, which also suggests her potential connection to the Lineage of Light.
