Kunzo is a minor character in Octopath Traveler II. He appears during Hikari's storyline, serving Rai Mei as a member of Clan Mei.

Kunzo wears his blond hair in a mohawk and beard. He wears blue robes and wields a spear in combat.
Personality[]
Kunzo is a loyal and fair-minded bodyguard to Rai Mei. He seeks her best interests, even if he must eventually act behind her back and defy her plans in order to achieve them.

A longtime vassal of Clan Mei, Kunzo acted as a father to both Jin and Rai after the two lost their parents at a young age, and even instructed them in the martial arts.
During his Chapter 4, Hikari comes to Stormhail seeking Clan Mei's support. Kunzo and his soldiers meet Hikari on the bridge, only to turn against him on Rai Mei's orders. Though Hikari proves his mettle by defeating them in combat, Rai Mei nevertheless collapses the bridge and takes Hikari prisoner in order to execute him.
After Rai Mei discusses her brother's tragic death, along with her determination to prove loyal to Mugen for the safety of her clan, Kunzo decides to take action against her orders. He frees Hikari from the dungeon, with the request that Hikari would liberate Rai Mei from the fear that shackled her.
Thanks to Kunzo's intervention, Hikari convinces Rai Mei to ally with him, and Clan Mei joins the final battle against Mugen.
Now that Clan Mei and Clan Ku are at peace, Kunzo's only remaining life mission is to find Rai Mei a worthy partner to spend her life with.Quotes[]
