King Khalim is a character in Octopath Traveler, appearing in H'aanit's Chapter 4. He comes from the Yashum Clan and he is the current king of the Triberia Kingdom and the father of Gloria. He is the client for the side story King Khalim's Conundrum.

Personality[]
Khalim is a wise, broad-minded, and just king. He prioritizes the well-being of his kingdom above all and invites his people to learn from one another, an attitude reflected in his mandate to keep the Marsalim Palace open to the public. He is also quite generous in throwing banquets of honor and investing in entertainment for the city of Marsalim, as he values his people's happiness.
Story[]
As the king of Marsalim, King Khalim sends soldiers led by General Lenaar into the Grimsand Ruins to slay the monstrous Redeye and defend his city. After the soldiers fail and fall prey to the beast's petrification spell, only Captain Raaf returns alive. Desperate for a hero to protect the kingdom, Khalim welcomes H'aanit's aid in slaying the beast. Upon her successful return, he offers to throw a grand banquet in her honor, promising her that she will always be welcome in Marsalim even after she turns down his offer.
During his sidequest, King Khalim seeks to entertain his people by constructing a theater in which every commoner can participate, in the process learning from the ways of their fellow citizens.

"Khalim" (also spelled "Kalim" or "Kaleem") is a name of Arabic origin meaning "speaker," "speech," or "word." It symbolizes someone adept at communication and conversation, befitting of King Khalim's role as a much-beloved leader and negotiator of peace between tribes.
