Hoarfrost Grotto is an optional dungeon in Octopath Traveler, located in the Western Flamesgrace Wilds. During the side story The Slumbering Giant, the elusive Jötunn can be encountered here.
Description[]
Hoarfrost Grotto is a frozen cavern glittering with stalagmite-like icicles, snowy stone paths, rock arches, and a chilly winter aesthetic. The pathway around the dungeon circles around a wide pit in the center of the cave, whose depths serve as the lair of the rare Jötunn.

- This location is a direct reference to a test cell bearing the same name in the influential fantasy game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The Jötunn within the Hoarfrost Grotto in Octopath Traveler closely resembles a Frost Atronach—one of these Atronachs can be found in Skyrim's Hoarfrost Grotto. The term jötunn comes from Norse mythology, from which Skyrim draws heavily.
