Harald is a character in Octopath Traveler. He is the son of the former lord of Riverford, and takes it upon himself to free the town from Werner's tyranny.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Harald has short white hair and wears a gray-blue shirt over brown pants.
Personality[]
Harald is a determined, noble resistance leader dedicated to saving Riverford from Werner's oppression. He seeks the good of the townspeople above all, and does not scruple to put himself in danger in order to bring Werner low. After Werner has been defeated, Harald works tirelessly to rebuild the city, selling off his own family heirlooms to fund the repairs.
Story[]
Werner accused Harald's father of larceny, pillage, and corruption, winning the support of the common folk and overthrowing him. He would then go on to rule Riverford with an iron grip, burning people at the stake every month to snuff out opposition.
Determined to clear his father's name and retake Riverford, Harald creates a resistance force alongside Reggie and the Man with the Red Hat, later gaining the support of Olberic as well. He plans to set an attack in the square as a distraction, then infiltrate Werner's mansion through a secret passage.
His plan quickly goes awry, as Werner predicts the attack through the secret passage. Werner's men lay waste to the resistance force, and Harald is wounded protecting Olberic. In that instant, Erhardt suddenly appears and provides the necessary strength to take out Werner's men, allowing Olberic to pursue Werner.
Following the liberation of Riverford, Harald works hard for the city's restoration, even selling off his family's property and mementos to fund it. This makes him the subject of the side quest Hello Again, Harald.
