"Welcome to Grandport, the largest port city in the Coastlands. Anything you might want from all corners of the world can be found here at this trading post. Ever heard of the Merchants' Fair?" —Townsperson
Grandport is a town in Octopath Traveler. This immense port town is the setting of Tressa's final chapter. Once a year, the great Merchants' Fair is held here; the greatest auction in Orsterra, it draws people from near and far, attracting vendors that sell rare novelties from every region.
Description[]
Grandport is a vivacious center of commerce that sports ships, a colosseum, and an enormous market filled with merchants and shoppers. On the east side of the city rests a dock, covered with cargo and adorned with a large moored trade ship; on the west lies a small, sandy beach, graced by a quaint chapel which appears to have been left by the wayside by the merchants' clamors for worldly treasures. Grandport teems with energy and excitement, and contains more NPCs than any other town in Orsterra.
History[]
Two centuries ago, the large nations of Grandport and Bernstein repeatedly invaded other nations, leading to unrest and the Orsterran Riots[1]. In the year of 1401, the Kingdom of Grandport invaded the Flatlands in a bid to exert their influence inland. The war went poorly for Grandport, with the eight tribes of the Flatlands coming together and creating the settlement of Atlasdam and the Kingdom of Wold. The failed conquest led the crown prince of Grandport to oust his father from the throne - with ambition to not rule over people, but with them.

A cleric who spends more time drinking at the tavern than conducting services at his chapel. In spite of this, he is extremely devout, as many of the other customers at the aforementioned tavern can attest to.
The price to restore reputation in Grandport is 100,000 leaves—the highest reputation price in the game.
The Tavern Wench declares that Grandport boasts a "vast collection of drink from around the world."
Grandport contains more NPCs than any other city in Octopath Traveler.
The Passionate Peddler in Grandport has an easter egg hidden in his biography: He recently came into possession of a book containing "tales of eight travelers, each fascinating and compelling, and cannot seem to put it down."
Grandport's merchants seem divided on the matter of clerics; when Guided, one will remark that he's never seen a sister of are Order around these parts, while another says he sees clerics in Grandport quite frequently, and a third says that "There are many here who revere your Order." Grandport Markets houses a chapel of its own, but it is unattended - suggesting that commerce holds more sway than the Church here. The cleric who runs the chapel can be found in the tavern, where his biography notes he spends more time drinking than conducting services.
Intriguingly, the Grandport cleric appears to know Ophilia, as he asks when Guided, "Is it really you, Sister Ophilia?" He also recognizes Primrose's dancing: "Oh, you must be from the tavern in Sunshade. I have heard of these dances." When Challenged, he says, "I don't think I've had enough wine," and his Parting Ways dialogue is, "And with that, I think I could use another drink."
Several townspeople in Grandport have particularly amusing Guide dialogue:
"I won't be taken in by your guiding words! I won't..."
"You peddle truth in the Order of the Flame, I have often heard."
"This whole religious business has always seemed a bit suspect to me."
"Your Order is quite mysterious. I'm intrigued!"
"Following the guidance of the Order could do nothing but improve my standing with the gods of luck!"
"I am not sure I'm fit to be guided by you."
When Challenged/Provoked, many of Grandport's merchants complain that duels aren't profitable or leap to defend their merchandise from monsters
The Merry Drunkard in Grandport's tavern was once an informant behind enemy lines, with an ability to easily befriend people through good food and spirits.
A pair of brigands who terrorize Grandport can be found guarding and inside the house across from the tavern. The man who stands outside has a knack for creating concoctions which produce thick smoke or befuddle the senses, allowing him to steal innocents' valuables. The "Elderly Woman" inside is actually 32 years old, disguising herself as an old lady to prey on the sympathy of others and effortlessly steal from the gullible. When Guided, she mentions of Ophilia, "You seemed so calm, but I can tell you have a fiery spirit," and of Primrose when Allured, "What spirit! I wish you were my daughter."
According to the Bombastic Boy, the sword of the knight Sokrath (a legend in Everhold, also mentioned by a bard in Atlasdam) was recently found in Grandport.
The local Bookworm Girl spends her days voraciously reading books ordered from Atlasdam. Like the Book-loving Girl in Atlasdam's library, she commands the rare skill "Tome Tempest." When Allured, she compares Primrose to a "dancer from a fairy tale."
According to his biography, the townsperson before the entrance to Grandport Markets stowed away on a merchant ship and made his way to Grandport from the Woodlands six months ago. He lives at the tavern and is secretly planning to run away with the tavern maid he has befriended, although she knows nothing of this.
A large coastal city with a large mercantile presence that even stretches beyond the confines of Orsterra. In the center of the city is a great market square, as well as a large two-storied bazaar that towers over it. An underground aqueduct is used to transport goods to the auction house in the bazaar. There is a chapel to the west of the market square, and to the east of it towers the estate of the Lord of Grandport.
Grandport boasts citizen militia called the Evening Calm, as well as a city guard.
Once a year, the Merchant’s Fair is held. It is the greatest auction in Orsterra, and it draws people from near and far.
A Fastidious Housewife serves meals in the market. Her menu consists of Mossy cave tortoise garden salad, Giant sheep à la tomato stew, River bean vicyssoise, White grape muffins. Ingredients from the Frostlands, Highlands, Riverlands and Woodlands, respectively.

An ancient mariner who sailed the seas with trusty harpoon in hand until a leviathan sunk his ship. Since that day, he's dedicated himself to vengeance. Unfortunately, his harrowing experience gave him a phobia of sailing, and so he's spent decades standing on the shores, glaring at the pitiless waves. An old man now, he hopes a hero will arise to avenge him.
"Grandport" is comprised of "grand" + "port," referring to the immense side, splendor, and repute of the city's famous port. This name reflects the ships that sail in bearing cargo from every nation, supplying the breathtaking Merchants' Fair.
General Trivia[]
The Merchant's Association's chairman decides who can sell their wares at the market[2], and is the reason for the Registration No.'s of every Official Grandport Merchant.
When composing "Grandport, Center of Commerce," Yasunori Nishiki sought to musically express the lively atmosphere of ships and people constantly coming and going. The theme is based around a triplet rhythm, which creates a sense of speed and a vibrant atmosphere, while along with the inclusion of tin whistles and bagpipes imbuing the music with a somewhat Celtic feel. Given the city's setting in the Coastlands, the theme also features the tension chords characteristic of its region.[3]
