- "...I envy the sea. It has no worries. It feels no pain. It must be nice... not being swayed by anyone. Sometimes I wish I could just sink to the bottom of the ocean... And rest there peacefully, like a seashell..." —Giselle
Giselle is a character in Octopath Traveler II. She is the leader of Giselle's Traveling Troupe, appearing during Agnea's story.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Giselle has short blond hair and wears a red half-cape, from which she can conjure a dove. She wields a sword in battle.
Personality[]
Giselle is determined to spread joy wherever she goes, as demonstrated by her troupe's motto: "Bringing smiles to every corner of the realm." Despite her goals, however, Giselle suffers from inner insecurity and questions whether she is truly meant to be a performer. She has been known to forget her lines onstage, and fears that it will happen again. This fear has driven her to run throughout her life.
Giselle has a penchant for speaking in similes and metaphors. Among other figures of speech, she claims that smiles are brighter than gold, wishes that she could be a seashell, and describes stars as symbols of hope through rain or shine.
History[]
Giselle is the daughter of a local noble family. Her marriage partner had already been decided when she left home, determined to carve her own place in the world. Though her journey began aimlessly, she eventually started conducting street performances with her pet dove, and she hasn't looked back since.
Story[]
While arriving at Tropu'hopu, Giselle's troupe cart becomes stuck in the sand. After Tanzy fails to excavate the cart, Agnea appears to offer her assistance. With Agnea's help, the troupe frees their cart, and the members exchange introductions with Agnea. Giselle finds Agnea's last name familiar, owing to the popularity of Agnea's mother, Cuani Bristarni.
Giselle's Traveling Troupe prepares to deliver a nighttime show at Tropu'hopu: Floating Theater. However, Giselle suffers a crisis of confidence and flees to a nearby island, frightened that she will forget her lines and disappoint all of the people relying on her. While the rest of her troupe panics, Agnea meets Giselle alone on the island and listens to her concerns. Agnea rallies Giselle with words of hope, reminding her that if she stumbles, she can get back up again.
Heartened by Agnea's encouragement, Giselle returns to the theater and puts on a show alongside Rico and Coda. She invites Agnea to dance with the troupe, and after the show, the group celebrates with drinks by the moonlight. After a warmhearted farewell, Giselle's troupe departs, looking forward to re-encountering Agnea during the Grand Gala.
In Merry Hills, Giselle and her troupe once again cross paths with Agnea. Using their doves to cause a diversion, they help Agnea thwart her ruffian pursuers. Later, while Agnea and Dolcinaea perform against one another, Giselle and the troupe cheer for Agnea, supporting her alongside all of her other family and friends.
