- "The Frostlands in the northern reaches of the continent are so named for their ever-present layer of snow, which endures due to the elevation and proximity to the polar zone. According to historical records, it is here that Aelfric, the deity central to the Sacred Flame faith, descended from on high..." —History of the Frostlands
The Frostlands are a snowbound region in northern Orsterra, home to the towns of Flamesgrace, Stillsnow, and Northreach. Flamesgrace is particularly noteworthy, as it is the center of the Order of the Sacred Flame (also home to the clerics Ophilia and Lianna).
Characterized by its frigid temperatures, the Frostlands is filled with falling snowflakes and blizzards that blanket the land in sparkling white snowdrifts. The central Frostlands is particularly prone to snowstorms, which have completely buried the path outside Stillsnow. Towering mountains loom over the northern Frostlands and create at atmosphere of both desolation and beauty.
The Frostlands are bordered by the Woodlands to the west and the Flatlands to the east, and in the heart of the Frostlands lies the Shrine of the Flamebearer.

Trivia[]
- The Frostlands were modeled off the secluded snowfields of Norway.[1]
- The subject of the Frostlands cathedral captivated the imagination of concept artist Naoki Ikushima, who quite enjoyed thinking up the homes of the Frostlands denizens. When creating the Frostlands, he envisioned a land at once beautiful to behold and harrowing to inhabit. Studying up on the lifestyles and facilities needed for such a climate, considering the common sense and strength of Frostlands' inhabitants, he enjoyed imagining what their lives must be like.[2]
- The houses in the Frostlands have sloped roofs for easy snow removal, with higher foundations to prevent heavy snowfall from blocking the entryways. Compared to the hustle and bustle of the Flatlands city streets, the Frostlands towns are more elegant, with sharp roofs and chimneys jutting up like points out of the snow. [3]
