- "My nets are all but empty these days. How is a humble fisherman supposed to make a livin'!?" —Angler
For Want of Fish is a side story in Octopath Traveler. The tale begins by speaking to the Angler standing on the docks in Clearbrook.

Angler, Clearbrook
Resolution[]
The side story may be resolved using one of two methods:
Purchase /
Steal[]
Successfully use the Purchase or Steal path action to obtain Saucy Prawns from Magg the Cook (

95 /
Lvl 1 ), located in the Clearbrook tavern.

Magg the Cook, Clearbrook
The tale ends once the Saucy Prawns are given to the Angler.
- "Using the prawns as bait, the fisherman was once again able to fill his nets with a veritable bounty of plounder."
Challenge /
Provoke[]
Travel to West Clearbrook Traverse. Use the Challenge or Provoke path action to duel the Fishmonger (
Min Lvl: 5 /
[Strength:3, HP:983, Weak:

] ) by the river south of the save point.

The tale ends once the Fishmonger is defeated.
- "The greedy fishmonger gone, the plounder have once again returned to the river."
Epilogue[]
Upon completion of the side story, the following occurs:
- If the Challenge/Provoke path is chosen, the Fishmonger relocates to the tavern in Clearbrook.
Trivia[]
- Magg the Cook and Fishmonger appear only after completing Alfyn's Chapter 1 story.
- Alfyn refers to this quest in the Japanese novel The Four Paths of Eight Travelers, in which he mentions that Olberic and H'aanit stopped the poacher (implying that the Challenge/Provoke route is the canonical ending).
