Fiore EX |
|---|
Fiore is a character in Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent. She is one of the eight five stars units that can be immediately pulled by the player upon starting the game, acting as the Chosen One.
Background[]
Female warrior of the Rippletide town watch.
She took up the blade to follow in her father's footsteps, but is plagued by self-doubt. She has yet to awaken to her own abilities.
Personality[]
She is somewhat oblivious, being unsure of how long she's been serving in the city watch and believing that Orsterra covered the whole world.
Story[]
Fiore wants to follow in her late father's footsteps, but thanks to her own self-doubt, and her mother's harsh attitude, she has yet to awaken her true power. The captain of the Rippletide watch holds little respect for her, but due to her seniority makes her squad leader. She is instructed to show the newest recruit, Mika, the ropes. The recruit hails from beyond Orsterra, far to the east. While on patrol, Fiore and the Ringbearers are attacked by Birdians threatening the town, with Mika staying out of the battle. Later, in town, Fiore discovers Mika to be proficient in martial arts. Believing Mika to have been keeping her skills a secret in order to to test her, she gets upset and storms off. Realizing that she earlier invited the Ringbearer to dinner, they enter Fiore's home. Her mother is hungover, and berates her daughter for the new friend she's made - judging the Ringbearer to poor and useless. Her mother leaves for work, noting that she has an important customer and that she won't be back until the morrow. Fiore reveals to the Ringbearer that her father died while trying to save a stranger from bandits and that his motto was "No matter your station, you must stick to your beliefs. Even the lowliest peasant can have the spirit of a knight." After the Ringbearer offers some encouraging words, Fiore decides that she owes Mika an apology for her flare-up.

Trivia[]
- Fiore's artwork includes her friend Mika, a key supporting character in her Traveler story.
- Artist Koudai Okamoto says about Fiore's artwork, "This was my first attempt at drawing a female duo, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Nothing like a couple gals throwing down!"[1]
- According to Yasuhiro Kidera, Fiore's illustration was designed with her traveler story's final battle in mind, in which she fights alongside her friends. The illustration ended up matching the story so well that the pixel art staff loved it and added a few event-specific animations for her.[2]
