Sunlands

The Sunlands are a desert region in southern Orsterra. This region is home to the cities of Sunshade (where the dancer Primrose begins her travels), Wellspring, and Marsalim.

The Sunlands consists of a vast desert, riddled with hidden caves and ancient catacombs. Its brilliant sand dunes glitter golden beneath the relentless sun, decorated with sparse cacti and an occasional oasis. In order to thrive in the desert heat, this region's cities take shelter beneath large rocky cliffs or around oases with plentiful water.

The Sunlands are bordered by the Highlands to the east and the Riverlands to the west. In the heart of this region lies the Shrine of the Lady of Grace.

History[]

Long ago, twelve tribes fought continuously over control of a small oasis in the Sunlands. Over 100 years before the events of Octopath Traveler, the Yashum Clan, based in the town of Marsalim, put an end to the conflict by uniting the tribes and establishing the Kingdom of Triberia.

Currently, the Sunlands's king is chosen from among the clan chieftains by a vote from the Great Assembly of chiefs. The current regent is King Khalim of the Yashum Clan.
