Dreadwolf is an optional boss in Octopath Traveler. This ferocious wolf can be fought in the deepest reach of the Maw of the Ice Dragon. Players must defeat it to get one of three Forbidden Daggers in the game.
After its initial defeat, the Dreadwolf has a 3% chance of appearing (alongside two War Wolves) as a random encounter in the Maw of the Ice Dragon, where it can be captured.

- Rampage: Heavy physical attack, targets entire party.
- Howl: Summons a War Wolf.
- Vorpal Fang: Heavy physical attack, single target.
- Wild Scratch: Heavy physical attack, targets random allies. Hits 4-6 times.
