Dohter is a god in Octopath Traveler, Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, and Octopath Traveler II. She is the 3rd of the 13 gods of Orsterra and one of the 8 gods of Solistia. In Champions of the Continent, she was the Ring of the Charitable, possessed by Ceraphina; later, in Octopath Traveler, she can be found at the Shrine of the Healer where she bestows the Apothecary class to the player. In Solistia, she is enshrined at the Altar of the Charitable, where she unlocks the EX Skill Drastic Measures for Castti.
Story[]
Approximately 1,600 years prior to the events of Octopath Traveler, Galdera attempted to seize the power of the gods for himself. The battle that ensued was concluded when Aelfric brought the Sacred Flame from the heavens, sealing Galdera away in the afterworld.
Long before the events of Champions of the Continent and Octopath Traveler, Finis turned Dohter into the Ring of the Charitable, and bestowed it upon the people. It ended up in Ceraphina's hands (presumably through Lyblac), who became its bearer.
In Octopath Traveler II, Dohter appears among the eight gods who sacrificed themselves to defeat the wicked god Vide, after which the gods fell into a deep slumber.

Etymology[]
In Old English, "dohter" is the word for "daughter" or "doctor." Dohter's name may also be a play on the verb "dote," which means "to lavish love and attention on someone," as a compassionate healer might dote on her patients.
