- "We might be a li'l village out in the sticks, but we've got the best darn peaches and raspberries around!" —Villager
Cropdale is a town in Octopath Traveler II. This idyllic Leaflands village is Agnea's hometown and is the setting of her Chapter 1.
According to the Mercantile Manuscript, the small village of Cropdale is famous for its raspberries and peaches, and its fruit pies are widely known to be especially scrumptious. That being said, this rural settlement has an abundance of peach-centric cuisine: peach jam, peach juice, peach salad, peach soup, sautéed peach, fried peach, peach pilaf, steamed peach... to name just a few. Some might say Cropdale has an overabundance of peach dishes, but that's simply because the locals just can't decide on a favorite!

The object of her malice may be the Young Man who appears in the tavern at night, complaining that his stomach has recently started hurting at night; his biography deems him a playboy who has caused many to shed rivers of tears, suggesting that she may be cursing him in revenge.

Etymology[]
"Cropdale" is comprised of "crop" + "dale," the former referring to the town's abundant crops of peaches and raspberries and the latter implying its location in a Leaflands valley.
General Trivia[]
- Cropdale was originally home to the rare Crop textiles, which had unique patterns, but the tradition has since withered.
- An unknown number of years ago, Cropdale was ravaged by a rampaging duorduor. All of the townspeople had to band together in order to drive it away.
- Cropdale's festival features contests for who can eat the most raspberries and bake the best raspberry desserts.
- According to a local boy, the river running through Cropdale contains a river spirit. His more serious-minded playmate, however, dismisses this fantasy being caused by a branch floating by in the water.
- Cropdale's tavern serves excellent peach juice.
- When composing "Cropdale, Village at Peace," Yasunori Nishiki focused on the idea that Agnea’s home village is as peaceful and warm as the people who live there, the kind of place a person would recall with a pang of longing every so often. Like Agnea's theme, Cropdale's theme uses Celtic music as a motif, with the instruments carrying a warm sound that evokes nostalgia for home. Agnea comes to the big city aiming to become a star, but despite her cheerful nature she surely experiences setbacks and loneliness, so he figured that the warmer the vistas of her homeland were, the more wistful she’d feel remembering them.[1]
- Nishiki is especially attached to the title of "Cropdale, Village at Peace." He chose the phrase “at peace” specifically to emphasize the theme's wistfulness.[1]
