Challenge is a recurring path action.
Challenge is Hikari Ku's daytime Path Action in Octopath Traveler II. The ability allows Hikari to duel certain non-playable characters in the game in one-to-one combat.
Winning the duel also allows Hikari to learn the townsperson's Learned Skill.
Gameplay[]
Hikari may only challenge townspeople once he is at or above the NPC's challenge level threshold. This threshold may be lowered in certain towns by gleaning information from specific NPCs.
When Hikari challenges a townsperson, he engage the townsperson in a one-on-one duel; all other party members will be excluded from the fight. Hikari may use any skill or items freely as if he was in a regular battle. Also as with normal battles, each townsperson has a set chance to drop an item.
- Should Hikari lose the battle, he will be revived at 1 HP and can walk away freely with no reputation penalty.
- Should Hikari defeat the townsperson, the following occurs:
- The townsperson will be rendered unconscious. If the townsperson was previously blocking a path, the path will be cleared.
- No other Path Actions may be used on the townsperson until the travelers leave the area and return.
- Hikari is given the chance to learn the townsperson's Learned Skill.
