Carrion Caves is an optional dungeon in Octopath Traveler, situated at the bottom of a ravine in the South Boulderfall Pass.
Description[]
Carrion Caves is a cavern at the base of a chasm, located alongside a rushing river. The caves are littered with bleached skulls, dry grass, and a surfeit of stalagmites. Half-open to the air, this dungeon is inhabited by a vast variety of raptors.

- Carrion Caves has the highest average Leaf, experience and JP yield from random encounters of any inner ring area, excluding the Danger Level 45 Undertow Cove. This makes the Carrion Caves an ideal grinding spot between Chapters 1 and 2.
- Therion mentions the dungeon by name in one of his travel banters with Cyrus, suggesting that he may have visited the Carrion Caves before.
- The Carrion Caves, incidentally, are located directly underneath the cliff from which Therion fell.
- According to Cyrus in the Japanese novel The Four Paths of Eight Travelers, several caves in the Cliftlands' valleys were once used for sky burials, where the bodies of the deceased would be left to be eaten by birds. Carrion Caves is one of these locations.
