- "Welcome to Canalbrine! Looking for a place to stay? We've got rooms!" —Innkeeper
Canalbrine is a seaside town in Octopath Traveler II. It is the setting of Castti's Chapter 1 and Temenos's Chapter 2.
According to the Mercantile Manuscript, during the Age of Exploration roughly a century ago, ships launched from Canalbrine's piers discovered the sea routes that led to the eastern continent.
Story[]
(I don't think this is where I should be going at the moment...) The following section contains potential story spoilers! |
After being rescued from her skiff by a kind ship captain, Castti ends up in this large port town. Initially the townspeople distrust her, but when she saves them from a sickness caused by poison in their water supply, they welcome her as their rescuer.
During his Chapter 2, Temenos enters Canalbrine in search of the theologian Lucian, who may have information regarding the pontiff's death. Instead, he ends up uncovering a string of murders and apprehending the killer, Vados the Architect.

Trivia[]
- During the Age of Exploration 100 years ago, ships set out from Canalbrine to find sea routes leading to the eastern continent.
- When the kingdom of U fell, many of its citizens fled east to the Harborlands, settling especially Canalbrine. U's technological prowess can be seen in Canalbrine's canals and lighthouse.
- Canalbrine's lighthouse was built 20 years ago by engineers from U. According to some reports, its light can be seen all the way in New Delsta.
- Canalbrine's church is an important launch point for the Order of the Sacred Flame in the western continent.
- After completing the Lighthouse Restoration quest, Canalbrine's lighthouse can be seen casting its beacon while sailing the Sundering Sea.
- When composing the theme "Seaside Town," Yasunori Nishiki intended to conjure the spirit of a harbor town with a vaguely Mediterranean feel. This music takes a different approach from Tropu'hopu's, suggesting someplace where the air is a little more bracing, where a person might like to sit on the dock for a while listening to the gulls call. The mandolin and the accordion are the theme's most prominent sounds, playing the same lines in unison for a bracing yet cozy vibe, while the waltz tempo and timbre of the guitar also help evoke images of a coastal Mediterranean town.[1]
