Etymology[]
"Canalbrine" is comprised of "canal" + "brine," referring to the town's many sailable canals and the seawater that flows through them. Notably, "Canalbrine" is pronounced with the emphasis on the first syllable, rather than the proper pronunciation of "canal" (which stresses the second syllable).
General Trivia[]
- When composing the theme "Seaside Town," Yasunori Nishiki intended to conjure the spirit of a harbor town with a vaguely Mediterranean feel. This music takes a different approach from Tropu'hopu's, suggesting someplace where the air is a little more bracing, where a person might like to sit on the dock for a while listening to the gulls call. The mandolin and the accordion are the theme's most prominent sounds, playing the same lines in unison for a bracing yet cozy vibe, while the waltz tempo and timbre of the guitar also help evoke images of a coastal Mediterranean town.[1]
