Bandit Chief is a minor character in Octopath Traveler II. He appears briefly during a flashback sequence in Hikari's Chapter 4, leading a band of assassins in an effort to murder the prince and his mother.

Personality[]
The Bandit Chief appears to be a ruthless and greedy brute, as he does not hesitate to attack the defenseless Kura in a treacherous assassination attempt orchestrated by Mugen.
Story[]
When Hikari was a child, his older half-brother Mugen sought to get rid of him and his mother. On Mugen's clandestine command, Jin Mei gathered a band of thugs to attack the pair in the streets of Ku: Castle Town, attempting to make the assassination look like the result of a robbery.
At Jin Mei's behest, the Bandit Chief and his two companions ambushed Hikari and Kura, murdering the latter and preparing to finish off the prince next. Overcome with grief at his mother's death, the young Hikari surged with an unexpected power and killed one of the bandits, losing himself in the grip of his murderous persona "Hikari". The Bandit Chief and his remaining companion fell to "Hikari"'s blade, becoming the first victims of "Hikari"'s savage bloodlust.
